Singer Ali Wheeler has definitely made her mark on the entertainment scene in Kent. As her population grows, her reputation has spread and  she has  been covering other areas of the UK. There has been a dramatic increase in demand  for her as a jazz singer in Kent, Essex, Hertfordshire, Sussex, London and Hampshire.

All About Ali  

Ali is no ordinary singer,  she is very versatile as a singer and covers a wide spectrum of musical tastes, she was classically trained and is involved with a new wave pop band called Gulf.  By her own definition she is a singer who is a bit jazzy, a bit country and a bit poppy.

Ali has performed extensively with her band Gulf and has recorded and released some of their songs.  She found her groove on the airwaves when she landed a job on Kent’s Heart FM, co-hosting the Breakfast show.  Her eclectic taste in music has enabled her to turn  her hand to a variety of musical styles.

The Music

Ali has always felt very much at home singing jazz standards, and she is equally as  comfortable with a rock ballad or a twelve bar blues number. Her passion for jazz has enabled her to sing with various jazz bands, including a performance at the launch of ‘The Jazz’ digital radio station alongside Joe Stilgoe and his band.

Eugene Portman

Then she met Eugene Portman and formed a duo consisting of a delightful combination of atmospheric jazz piano with melodic and contemporary vocals. The end result is a very fresh and unique sound.

Ali performs at many events throughout the the year and is very popular as a wedding singer and she also provides music for corporate events, birthday parties, anniversaries and cabaret performances. Weddings are a specialty and music can be provided for any or every part of the big day. Very often solo classical piano music is needed for the ceremony and this can be provided by her pianist Eugene Portman – who is also adept at many other styles of music.

Venues

Venues range from Champagne bars and jazz clubs to luxury hotels and stately homes.
